Happy Friday Each Friday morning–no matter the weather—from 6:45–8:00 a.m. we greet our neighbors traveling by vehicle or by foot along South Grand and offer free coffee and hot chocolate. This ministry began September 17, 2004, and continues to grow stronger.

We have made many friends of those who drive-by weekly. One woman even joined our congregtion! Our Happy Friday has also inspired Disciple congregation on the city’s northside, Memorial Boulevard CC, to begin Happy Thursday.  In addition, Rev. Ayanna Johnson of Family of Hope CC, Blue Island, Illinois, who along with the Blue Island Ministerial Alliance, conducted a Happy Tuesday at the Blue Island Metra train stop that greeted people in the Chicago train station.
